KATHMANDU: Hyundai has launched the IONIQ 9, the largest electric SUV in its IONIQ lineup, in Nepal.

Laxmi Intercontinental Pvt. Ltd., the authorized distributor of Hyundai in Nepal, has started sales of the premium electric SUV at the NAIMA Mobility Expo 2026.

The Hyundai IONIQ 9 is priced at Rs. 21.996 million in Nepal.

The seven-seater electric SUV is known for its long driving range, advanced technology, safety features and fast-charging capability.

The IONIQ 9 is built on Hyundai Motor Group’s E-GMP (Electric-Global Modular Platform). It uses an 800-volt electrical architecture, which supports fast charging and efficient power delivery.

The Nepal-spec model comes with a 160 kW electric motor and a 110 kWh battery pack. It offers a claimed range of up to 620 km on a single charge under the WLTP cycle.

Hyundai claims the battery can be charged from around 10% to 80% in approximately 24 minutes using a 350 kW DC fast charger.

The IONIQ 9 is available with both rear-wheel drive (RWD) and all-wheel drive (AWD) configurations in international markets. The dual-motor AWD setup offers stronger acceleration and higher torque.

In terms of design, the IONIQ 9 follows Hyundai’s Aerosthetic design philosophy. It features an aerodynamic body, pixel-style LED lighting and a closed-off front grille.

The interior gets dual panoramic displays, a digital cockpit, premium materials and comfort-focused seats. Other features include multi-zone climate control, over-the-air (OTA) software updates, a digital key, advanced driver assistance systems and a 360-degree camera.
