KATHMANDU: Hyundai has teased its largest electric vehicle to date, with a global debut scheduled for January 9 at the Brussels Motor Show.

The company has released a single teaser image, showing a large and boxy silhouette. Hyundai has not confirmed the model name or full specifications, but early reports suggest the new EV may not be an entirely new design.

According to industry observers, the upcoming electric model is likely based on the Hyundai Staria platform. If confirmed, this would indicate Hyundai is electrifying its largest people mover rather than developing a completely new vehicle from the ground up.

The new EV is expected to use 800-volt charging technology, allowing faster charging when connected to high-power chargers. Details on battery size, driving range, and power output have not yet been announced.

Hyundai already offers several electric models globally, including the Ioniq series. This new large EV would expand the brand’s lineup into the spacious family and multi-purpose vehicle segment.

More information is expected to be revealed during the official unveiling in Brussels next month.
