KATHMANDU: Beijing Hyundai has revealed its new EV strategy and unveiled the all-new Hyundai Ioniq V at the Beijing Auto Show 2026.

The company confirmed that the Ioniq brand is now officially established in China. It will focus on new energy vehicles tailored for local buyers.

The brand will support both pure electric and extended-range powertrains. It will also use 800V fast charging and advanced electric drive systems.

Hyundai has partnered with several tech firms to boost features. These include Momenta, Qualcomm, CATL, Baidu, and ByteDance.

The Ioniq V made its global debut as part of this strategy. It is the production version of the earlier Ioniq Venus concept.

In terms of design, the model features a sleek and aerodynamic shape. It gets split headlights, “Light Blade” lighting elements, and frameless doors. The rear has a “Star Track” lighting setup.

The car measures 4,900 mm in length, 1,890 mm in width, and 1,470 mm in height. It has a wheelbase of 2,900 mm.

Inside, the Ioniq V offers a high-tech cabin. It includes a 27-inch 4K display, head-up display, and ambient lighting.

Hyundai says all Ioniq models are designed in China. They are tailored for local users but will also be exported globally.

The company is also building an ecosystem called ‘Ioniq Universe’ for Chinese customers. It includes future models inspired by concept vehicles like Venus and Earth.

Platform details are not fully confirmed. Some reports suggest the use of Hyundai’s E-GMP platform, while others indicate a new architecture developed with BAIC.

The Ioniq V marks a key step in Hyundai’s expansion in China’s fast-growing EV market.
