KATHMANDU: Hyundai has revealed the Boulder SUV Concept at the New York Auto Show. The concept previews the brand’s first body-on-frame vehicle for the US market.

The Boulder Concept is an early design preview of a future midsize pickup-based SUV. Hyundai plans to launch its first body-on-frame model in the US by 2030.

The concept was designed by Hyundai Design North America in California. It focuses on off-road capability and targets adventure-oriented buyers.

Hyundai confirmed that future body-on-frame models will be designed, developed, and built in the US using local materials.

The SUV features a bold and upright stance. It follows Hyundai’s “Art of Steel” design theme, also seen in recent EV concepts.

The design includes large 37-inch off-road tires for high ground clearance. It also gets safari-style upper windows, coach-style doors, and integrated tow hooks.

A low-profile roof rack is included for added utility. The rear window can slide down to carry longer items or improve cabin ventilation.

Hyundai says the concept reflects its plan to expand into the US midsize pickup and off-road SUV segment.
