KATHMANDU: SPG Automobiles, the official distributor of Chery, Omoda, and Jaecoo in Nepal, has increased the prices of two popular electric SUVs, the iCaur V23 and Jaecoo J6T.

The price of the iCaur V23 lifestyle electric SUV has gone up by Rs 300,000. The model now costs Rs 5.399 million, up from Rs 5.099 million.

Since its launch in Nepal last year, the V23’s price has increased by a total of Rs 700,000. The SUV has become one of the highest-selling EVs in recent months due to strong demand.

The rear-wheel-drive V23 comes with a 100 kW electric motor and a 59.93 kWh LFP battery, offering a claimed range of up to 400 km on a full charge.

SPG Automobiles has also increased the price of the Jaecoo J6T electric SUV by Rs 100,000. The SUV is now priced at Rs 6.999 million.

Launched in March this year, the J6T is a larger and more feature-rich version of the standard J6. It features a 65.69 kWh battery pack and a 135 kW rear-wheel-drive motor.

The J6T offers 225 mm ground clearance and comes equipped with features such as a panoramic sunroof, ventilated and heated seats, dual-zone climate control, a 15.6-inch infotainment screen, a 360-degree camera, six airbags, and Level-2 ADAS.

The latest price revisions come as EV import costs continue to rise. The government’s new fiscal budget has also increased taxes on electric vehicles, which is expected to push EV prices higher in the coming months.
