KATHMANDU: Kia has achieved a major sales milestone in India. The Sonet subcompact SUV has crossed 500,000 cumulative sales.
The Sonet contributes nearly 35 percent of Kia’s total domestic sales. Annual sales crossed 100,000 units for two consecutive years.
Exports have also performed strongly. Over 100,000 units have been shipped to nearly 70 international markets. These include the Middle East, Central and South America, Mexico, and the APAC region.
The Sonet is offered with multiple powertrain options. These include a 1.2-liter petrol engine with a 5-speed manual gearbox. A 1.0-liter turbo-petrol engine is available with either a 6-speed iMT or a 7-speed DCT.
Kia also offers a 1.5-liter diesel engine. It comes with a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission.
Kia Motors is also active in Nepal. Continental Trading Enterprises Pvt. Ltd. is the sole authorized distributor of Kia vehicles in the country.
