KATHMANDU : Chinese EV maker Leapmotor has started pre-sales of the new A05 electric hatchback in China. The model starts at around USD 9,475.
The A05 could compete with models such as the Chery Q, Arcfox T1 and Proton e.MAS 5 in Nepal if it is introduced here.
The hatchback measures 4,200 mm in length, 1,800 mm in width and 1,560 mm in height. It has a 2,605 mm wheelbase and is slightly longer than the Proton e.MAS 5.
The A05 is offered with two battery options. The standard version gets a 39.8 kWh LFP battery with a 70 kW motor. The top version gets a 52 kWh liquid-cooled LFP battery and a 90 kW motor.
Inside, it gets an 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster and a 14.6-inch central touchscreen. Higher variants also offer heated and ventilated seats, a 12-speaker audio system and up to 1,308 liters of boot space with the rear seats folded.
The top variant also features an advanced driver assistance system with a 128-line LiDAR sensor.
The A05 is being positioned as a global model by Leapmotor. This makes Nepal a potential market for the new electric hatchback, although there is no official confirmation of its Nepal launch yet.
