KATHMANDU: Indian SUV maker Mahindra is preparing to launch three new SUV models by 2027. The upcoming lineup will include the Thar 3-door facelift, BE 07 electric SUV and Vision S compact SUV.
The three models will target different segments and use different powertrain technologies. The Thar will continue as a lifestyle SUV, while the BE 07 will expand Mahindra’s electric SUV lineup. The Vision S will enter the highly competitive compact SUV segment.
Among the three models, the Thar 3-door facelift is expected to arrive first. Test vehicles have already been spotted, suggesting several design changes to the popular SUV.
The facelifted Thar is expected to get a redesigned front fascia, new grille, LED headlamps and styling elements inspired by the Thar Roxx. Changes to the wheels are also expected.

The engine lineup is unlikely to change significantly. The SUV is expected to continue with its existing petrol and diesel engines, along with manual and automatic transmission options. Both rear-wheel-drive and four-wheel-drive versions are expected.
The BE 07 will be Mahindra’s second major upcoming product. It is expected to be positioned above the BE 06 and will be larger in size.
The SUV could be unveiled after the start of 2027, potentially at the Bharat Mobility Expo 2027. The BE 07 is expected to measure around 4.6 meters in length, although Mahindra has not yet revealed many technical details.
The Vision S is another important upcoming model for Mahindra. It will compete in the highly popular compact SUV segment, where models such as the Kia Seltos and Hyundai Creta are already strong sellers.

The Vision S is expected to be based on Mahindra’s new NU-IQ modular platform. The platform is designed to support multiple powertrains, including internal combustion engines, hybrids and fully electric systems.
Mahindra has said vehicles based on the NU-IQ platform will enter production from 2027. However, details about the Vision S’s engine, battery capacity and other technical specifications have not yet been revealed.
With these three SUVs, Mahindra plans to strengthen its position across different segments. The company will offer customers a choice of conventional petrol and diesel powertrains, hybrid technology and fully electric vehicles.
This strategy will allow Mahindra to continue developing vehicles with different powertrains instead of focusing on a single technology.
Among the three new SUVs Mahindra is set to launch, the Thar 3-door facelift is expected to hold the most appeal for the Nepali market.
Mahindra SUVs have a strong presence on Nepali roads, particularly in the four-wheel-drive segment. The Thar’s lifestyle-oriented design and off-road capability could make the upcoming facelift an attractive option for Nepali buyers looking for a capable and distinctive SUV.
