KATHMANDU: Mahindra has introduced the all-new XEV 9S in the Indian market with an introductory starting price of Rs 1.995 million Indian rupees (ex-showroom).
Built on the brand’s INGLO EV platform, the XEV 9S becomes the first dedicated 7-seater mass-market electric SUV in India.
The XEV 9S has a clean and modern look, taking design cues from the XEV 9e and the XUV.e8 concept. It features a closed-off grille, connected DRLs, triangular LED headlamps and a long bonnet that gives it a strong SUV presence.

Its long 2,762 mm wheelbase and large overhangs help improve cabin and luggage space. The SUV offers 219 mm ground clearance, a 1,745 mm height, 527 liters of boot space with the third row folded, and an extra 150-liter frunk for added convenience.
As an INGLO-based model, it also carries Mahindra’s new ‘butterfly’ emblem. Inside, it gets a BE-series style triple-screen dashboard with a wide digital cluster, infotainment display and two rear screens for second-row passengers, while higher variants also include an AR head-up display.

All trims offer sliding and reclining second-row seats, an openable panoramic sunroof, and a BYOD feature. Top variants add ADAS, auto parking, a drowsiness detector, Harman Kardon sound system, dual-zone climate control, and multi-color ambient lighting.
Mahindra offers the XEV 9S with three battery choices, 59 kWh, 70 kWh, and 79 kWh. All three support 175 kW fast charging, ensuring quicker top-ups on long trips.
In the “Pack One Above” variant, the 59 kWh and 79 kWh packs power a rear-wheel-drive setup, while performance and range figures will differ based on the battery size.
The XEV 9S is currently the only mass-market 3-row electric SUV in India. Other 3-row EVs like the Kia Carens Clavis EV and BYD eMax 7 are MPVs, so they are not direct rivals.
Its price also comes close to the Tata Harrier EV Empowered 75 AWD, making the XEV 9S a spacious new option in the premium mid-size electric SUV segment.
