KATHMANDU: New spy images have revealed the first clear look at Mercedes-Benz’s upcoming compact SUV, known as the “Baby G.”
It will be the smallest model in the G-Class lineup and is expected to launch by 2027 as the new entry-level option.
The test car looks much smaller than the standard G-Class. It also appears shorter than the 1718 mm-tall EQS SUV seen next to it. By comparison, the full-size G-Class is 1969 mm tall.
Despite its smaller size, the Baby G keeps the classic G-Class look. It has a boxy shape, flat sides, a tri-window layout, and a rear-mounted spare wheel. It also gets a new lighting design to set it apart from the larger models.

Mercedes-Benz will offer the Baby G only as an electric vehicle. Reports suggest it could use a setup similar to the upcoming electric GLC, possibly with a 94 kWh battery and up to 483 hp.
The model is built on a newly developed ladder-style platform designed specifically for EVs. The compact SUV is expected to debut in 2026, with sales starting later that year or in early 2027. The expected price range is USD 55,000 to 65,000.
