KATHMANDU: JSW MG Motor India has introduced MG ADAPT (Advanced Drive Architecture Platform Technology), a new modular vehicle platform designed to support multiple electrified powertrains. The company says it is India’s first Multi New Energy Vehicle (NEV) platform capable of accommodating battery electric vehicles (EVs), hybrids, plug-in hybrids (PHEVs) and range-extender electric vehicles (REEVs).

The first two models based on the ADAPT platform are scheduled to debut during the FY2026-27 financial year. They will include a fully electric vehicle and a plug-in hybrid model.

According to MG, the ADAPT platform has been developed to support different electrified propulsion systems on a common architecture. The modular design is expected to reduce development time while providing greater flexibility for future products. It also focuses on improving driving range, charging speed, energy efficiency, performance and safety.

A key highlight of the platform is its Integrated Technology Ecosystem, developed specifically for hybrid vehicles. It combines a dedicated hybrid engine, battery system, 10-in-1 Intelligent Electric Drive Unit and an Electromagnetic Dedicated Hybrid Transmission.

MG says the dedicated hybrid engine has been engineered to deliver higher thermal efficiency and lower fuel consumption. The battery system is designed to provide quick electrical response while enhancing safety and overall efficiency.

The compact 10-in-1 Intelligent Electric Drive Unit integrates multiple functions into a single system, reducing complexity while improving efficiency and performance. Meanwhile, the dedicated hybrid transmission is designed to deliver smoother power delivery, quicker response and a more refined driving experience.

With the ADAPT platform, MG aims to accelerate the development of new electrified models as demand for EVs and hybrid vehicles continues to grow in India and other global markets.
