KATHMANDU: All 34 bridges under construction on the Narayanghat-Daunne section of the Narayanghat-Butwal road project have been completed, according to the Narayanghat-Butwal Road Project (Eastern Section).

The section, which falls under the East-West Highway, is being upgraded to four lanes. To ensure smooth traffic flow, new bridges have been constructed for all four lanes. Bridge construction was completed after the concreting of the eighth span of the Arun Khola bridge.

As per the project office, the eastern section includes 22 small bridges (44 structures in total, two on each side) and 12 major bridges, bringing the total to 34 bridges. Out of these, 33 bridges have already been opened to traffic.

The Arun Khola bridge is also expected to be opened to vehicles before March 5, ahead of the upcoming election, with construction works being carried out at an accelerated pace.

The 65-kilometer-long Narayanghat–Daunne road section is now in its final stage of construction. Blacktopping has been completed on all stretches except the Daunne area, where work is still ongoing.
