Nissan Magnite facelift earns 5-star global NCAP crash test rating

KATHMANDU: The India-made Nissan Magnite facelift has received up to 5 stars in the latest Global NCAP crash safety tests. This includes the highest rating of 5 stars in adult occupant protection.

Global NCAP tested three versions of the Magnite. Only one of them scored the full 5-star rating. The other two received 2-star and 4-star ratings.

The base variant with only 2 airbags and no ESC scored 2 stars. It received 24.49 out of 34 points for adult protection and 18.39 out of 49 for child safety.

The mid-level version with 6 airbags, ESC, ISOFIX and seatbelt reminders scored 4 stars. It earned 26.51 points in adult protection and 36 points in child protection.Finally, an upgraded version, submitted later by Nissan, scored 5 stars. This version earned 32.31 out of 34 points in adult protection. However, it received only 3 stars in child protection with 33.64 out of 49 points.

The Magnite is widely popular in Nepal as well. It is available in the Nepali market with updated safety features. Its compact size and high ground clearance make it well-suited for Nepali roads. In Nepal, Nissan vehicles are officially distributed by Pioneer Moto Corp.
