KATHMANDU: Nissan has indicated it is open to exploring a potential partnership with Honda in India, as both brands look to improve cost efficiency in the market, according to Autocar India.

Nissan CEO Ivan Espinosa said the company is willing to consider new collaborations beyond its existing alliance with Renault. He noted that while Nissan already has a strong partnership with Renault in India, the company is open to evaluating other opportunities.

The possibility of a Nissan-Honda collaboration has been explored in the past at a global level. However, earlier discussions did not result in a formal agreement. The latest statement suggests that Nissan remains open to such cooperation despite previous setbacks.

Honda, on the other hand, has also been looking for a partner in India to reduce operational costs. The company had reportedly explored collaboration opportunities last year, potentially involving shared platforms, products, and technology.

At present, no formal talks are underway between the two automakers. Nissan is currently focused on expanding its product lineup in India by leveraging its existing alliance with Renault.
