KATHMANDU: Jagdamba Motors, the official distributor of Malaysian auto brand Proton in Nepal, introduced its second showroom today in Thapathali, one of Kathmandu’s major automobile hubs.
To celebrate the launch, popular Nepali actress Keki Adhikari received Proton’s electric SUV, the e.MAS 7. The event drew interest from auto enthusiasts, media and industry stakeholders.
Proton, a Malaysian carmaker, entered Nepal’s EV market on March 24, 2025, with the launch of the e.MAS 7. The company now plans to introduce a smaller model, the e.MAS 5 to reach more customers.
With this new showroom and a focused rollout plan, Proton aims to grow its presence in Nepal. The company is working to build trust, expand its sales network and offer EVs suited to local needs.
Proton is backed by China’s Geely Holding Group, which owns a 49.9% stake in the company.
