KATHMANDU: SUVs around 15 feet in length are gaining attention among Nepali buyers for offering a good balance between size, space, and practicality.
This segment sits between compact and full-size SUVs, making it ideal for families looking for comfort and advanced features without being too bulky for city roads.
Currently, four electric SUVs in this size category are available in Nepal, GAC Aion V, Proton e.Mas 7, Deepal S05, and Dongfeng Forthing Friday. While they may look similar in size, each differs in performance, battery capacity, range, features, and price.
Size and dimensions
The GAC Aion V measures 4,605 mm in length, 1,854 mm in width, and 1,660 mm in height, with a 2,775 mm wheelbase. It runs on 19-inch wheels and offers 175 mm of ground clearance.

The Proton e.MAS 7 is slightly larger at 4,615 mm in length, 1,901 mm in width, and 1,670 mm in height. It has a 2,750 mm wheelbase and 18 or 19-inch wheels, depending on the variant, with 173 mm of ground clearance.
The Dongfeng Forthing Friday measures 4,600 mm long, 1,860 mm wide, and 1,680 mm tall, offering 185 mm of ground clearance and a 2,715 mm wheelbase.
The Deepal S05, currently one of the most popular EVs in the market, is 4,620 mm long, 1,900 mm wide, and 1,600 mm tall, with a long 2,880 mm wheelbase and 175 mm ground clearance.

The Proton e.MAS 7stands out for its powerful 160 kW front-wheel-drive motor, producing 320 Nm of torque. It comes with 49.52 kWh and 60.22 kWh battery options, providing a WLTP range of up to 410 km.

The GAC Aion V has the largest battery in this group either 62.7 kWh or 75.3 kWh, offering a range of up to 510 km. It uses a 100 kW front motor with 240 Nm of torque.
The Deepal S05 features a 99 kW rear-wheel-drive motor and a 56.1 kWh CATL LFP battery, giving a range of 400 km.
The Forthing Friday comes with a 64.4 kWh LFP battery and a 99 kW motor producing 174 Nm of torque, also offering around 400 km of range.

The Aion V provides a 14.6-inch center display, 8.8-inch digital cluster, 10 speakers, dual-zone AC, wireless charger, and massage seats with memory for front passengers.
The Proton e.MAS 7 offers a 15.4-inch central display, 10.2-inch cluster, 6-way powered driver’s seat, ventilated front seats, wireless charger, panoramic sunroof, and 16 speakers with headrest audio, giving it a premium cabin feel.
Price
In terms of pricing, the Deepal S05 is the most affordable option, priced between Rs 5 to 5.7 million. The Dongfeng Forthing Friday comes next at Rs 5.496 million, followed by the Proton e.Mas 7, which ranges from Rs 5.7 to 6.8 million. The GAC Aion V is the most premium among the four, priced between Rs 6.5 and 7 million.
