KATHMANDU: The compact electric SUV segment is becoming increasingly competitive in Nepal. Among the newer options, the Tata Punch.ev is emerging as a practical choice for buyers looking for a small EV suitable for both city and highway use.
The Punch.ev is a sub-4-meter electric SUV. It combines a compact footprint with high ground clearance, modern features and multiple battery options.
Tata offers the Punch.ev with 30 kWh and 40 kWh battery packs in Nepal.
Tata Motors’ authorized distributor Sipradi Trading has priced the Punch.ev from Rs 3.399 million in Nepal. The larger battery version is priced at Rs 3.799 million.
Customers booking the Punch.ev during the NADA Auto Show and NAIMA Nepal Mobility Expo 2026 also received a Rs 100,000 cash discount.
The Punch.ev was unveiled in Nepal at the NAIMA Nepal Mobility Expo 2026. Sipradi said more than 200 units were delivered within 15 days, highlighting the initial response to the compact EV.
Bigger batteries, faster charging
The new Punch.ev brings improvements in both battery capacity and charging technology. The 30 kWh version produces 65 kW, while the 40 kWh version gets a more powerful 95 kW electric motor. Both versions use a front-wheel-drive layout.
The Punch.ev also supports DC fast charging. It can charge from 20 to 80 percent in around 26 minutes using a compatible fast charger.
The combination of a larger battery and fast charging makes the Punch.ev more practical for longer trips. It also reduces charging downtime during highway travel.
The new Punch.ev receives styling updates inspired by Tata’s newer electric models. It gets 16-inch aero-optimized alloy wheels and LED lighting elements. Its compact dimensions also make it suitable for crowded urban roads and tight parking spaces.
Inside, Tata has retained the overall dashboard layout while adding updated trims and a dual-tone theme. Higher variants get a 10.25-inch infotainment touchscreen and a 10.25-inch digital driver display.
The feature list includes wireless phone charging, ventilated seats, ambient lighting, connected-car technology and a 360-degree camera.
Safety and after-sales support
Safety remains another strong point of the Punch.ev. It comes with six airbags, electronic stability control, hill-hold assist, tire pressure monitoring, ISOFIX child-seat mounts and high-beam assist.
However, one of its biggest advantages in Nepal is the support provided by Sipradi Trading.
Sipradi has an established sales and after-sales network for Tata vehicles in Nepal. The company has also expanded its EV support infrastructure, including charging and dedicated EV service facilities.
This network can be particularly important for EV buyers concerned about charging availability, servicing and spare-parts support outside Kathmandu.
The Punch.ev’s compact dimensions, high ground clearance and electric powertrain make it well suited to Nepal’s urban environment.
Its sub-4-meter footprint is useful in congested cities, while the larger battery and fast-charging capability make it more suitable for highway travel.
