KATHMANDU: Toyota Motor remained the world’s best-selling automaker in 2025, marking six years at the top, according to official data.
Between January and November, Toyota sold 10.32 million vehicles worldwide, surpassing Volkswagen’s full-year sales of 8.98 million units, down 0.5% from 2024. Toyota’s figures include sales from its small-car unit Daihatsu and truck unit Hino.
Volkswagen faced an 8% decline in China amid rising competition from domestic brands. Sales in North America also fell 10.4% due to U.S. tariff measures. The German automaker maintained strong sales in Europe and saw global EV sales grow 32% to 983,100 units.
Toyota has held the top global position since 2020, continuing its lead over major rivals despite regional market challenges.
