KATHMANDU: Traffic has resumed on all roads across the country except two, which remain blocked due to floods and landslides.

According to Nepal Police, all roads except the Koshi Highway and the Rasuwagadhi Bridge leading to China had reopened by 8 a.m. on Friday.

As of Thursday, five major highways in the country were closed, while one-way traffic was operating on six.

Police said the Koshi Highway remains completely closed due to blockages in Bhotkhola Rural Municipality-4, Barun and Makalu Rural Municipality Ekuwa in Sankhuwasabha. The highway has been closed since May 20 and has not yet reopened.

Similarly, cross-border transport between Nepal and China has come to a halt after the bridge over the Lhende River at Rasuwagadhi in Rasuwa was washed away. The bridge has remained closed since July 8.

A bailey bridge is currently under construction at the site. The pillar work on the Chinese side has been completed, while work on the Nepal side is still underway. Authorities say the bridge is expected to be operational within two weeks.
