Updated Galaxy E5 with reduced price, higher range goes on sale

KATHMANDU: Chinese automobile giant Geely has started selling the updated version of its popular electric SUV, the Galaxy E5.

The new version of the car is now available at a reduced price and with an extended range, according to Chinese media reports.

The updated version is expected to enter international markets, including Nepal, soon.

In Nepal, this Galaxy model is currently being sold under two names—Proton eMAS 7 and Geely Galaxy E5—by different distributors.

The company has reduced the price of the updated version by 2.66%—a drop of 3,000 RMB. The starting price of the new Galaxy model in China is 109,000 RMB, while the top variant costs 145,800 RMB.

This Galaxy model is currently being sold under two names—Proton eMAS 7 and Geely Galaxy E5—by different distributors.

Geely has also introduced a new variant with a 68.39 kWh battery. As per media reports, the car will also be offered with battery packs of 49 kWh and 60.22 kWh available in the previous model. The variant with a 68.39 kWh battery delivers a CLTC range of 610 km. The updated SUV is powered by a 160 kW electric motor that delivers 350 Nm of peak torque. The updated model also introduces two new color options: blue and green.

Jagdamba Motors is selling Proton eMas 7, the Malaysian rebadged version of Galaxy E5, in the Nepali market, while LRR Group has introduced the Galaxy EX5 made in China for the international markets.

According to Geely, the Galaxy E5 is now being sold in 35 countries worldwide.
