KATHMANDU: JLR is preparing the first major facelift for the current-generation Range Rover, four years after its global debut. The update is expected to arrive alongside the brand’s first fully electric Range Rover later this year.

The fifth-generation Range Rover (L460) has been on sale since 2022. It remains one of JLR’s best-selling models. In 2025, the Range Rover, Defender, and Range Rover Sport together accounted for 74 percent of the company’s total sales.

Spy images published by Autocar show a camouflaged test vehicle undergoing winter testing near the Arctic Circle. The prototype features a redesigned front end, including new headlights, a revised grille, and an updated bumper with larger air ducts. The rear design appears largely unchanged.

The interior of the test vehicle was fully covered, indicating possible updates to the dashboard layout and cabin features.

In terms of powertrain, the facelifted model is expected to continue with the existing petrol and diesel mild-hybrid and plug-in hybrid options. The 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 engine, which produces up to 607 bhp in SV specification, is also likely to remain unchanged.

JLR has previously stated that the design of the upcoming Range Rover EV will closely match the combustion-engine version. As a result, the facelifted styling is expected to be shared by both models.

The refreshed ICE version and the new electric Range Rover are likely to be unveiled together later this year. However, earlier reports suggest the electric model’s market launch could take place in late 2026 following additional testing.
