KATHMANDU: The price of the Dongfeng Nammi Box electric hatchback has been reduced in Nepal, with the updated model also receiving several feature changes.
The larger-battery version is now priced at Rs 3.299 million, down from Rs 3.625 million. The Nammi Box is distributed in Nepal by MAW Vriddhi Motors.
The price revision comes with changes to the equipment list. The updated Nammi Box gets additional safety and connectivity features. At the same time, some features from the previous model have been removed.
The Nammi Box has built a strong presence in Nepal’s compact EV segment with its distinctive design and feature-rich cabin. MAW Vriddhi has also identified the Nammi Box as one of its key-selling EV models.
The updated lineup is offered with 31.4 kWh and 42.3 kWh battery options. The smaller battery version offers a claimed 330 km range under the CLTC cycle, while the larger battery version offers up to 430 km. Official Nepal specifications list both versions with a 49.5 kW motor.
The biggest change is in safety equipment. The new model now comes with six airbags. The earlier version had two airbags.
The infotainment system has also been updated. It now gets a dark mode, built-in Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. These features improve smart phone connectivity and everyday usability.
However, some features have been removed to keep the price competitive. Automatic parking, ambient lighting and ADAS are no longer available in the updated version.
The changes suggest that MAW Vriddhi is focusing on essential features, safety and connectivity rather than offering every available feature. This could make the Nammi Box more competitive in the sub-Rs 3.5 million EV segment.
