KATHMANDU: Toyota has introduced a minor update to the Toyota Land Cruiser 250 in Japan. The update mainly focuses on safety and anti-theft improvements. For now, only the gasoline version has been updated, while the diesel variant is expected after December.
The overall design remains unchanged. The SUV continues with its boxy and rugged look. A new neutral black shade replaces the previous black option. A desert color has also been added, removing the need for a dual-tone white roof. Existing colors like Platinum White Pearl Mica and Avant-garde Bronze Metallic are retained.
Dual-beam round LED headlights, earlier limited to the launch edition, are now available as an option on the VX variant. These give the SUV a more retro appearance compared to the standard rectangular LED setup.
Inside, updates focus on added features and comfort. The VX variant now gets an advanced driver assistance system (ADAS). It includes traffic jam assist, driver monitoring, forward cross traffic alert, lane change assist, and emergency steering assist.
Seat comfort has also improved. The driver seat now offers 8-way power adjustment with memory function, while the passenger seat gets 4-way power adjustment.

Toyota has also upgraded the anti-theft system. New features include key distance-based locking and start restriction, along with remote engine start disabling.
The powertrain remains unchanged. It continues with a 2.7-liter naturally aspirated four-cylinder engine. The engine produces 160 hp and 246 Nm of torque. It is paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission and an all-wheel-drive system.
The Land Cruiser 250 VX gasoline AWD seven-seater starts at around $38,500 in Japan. This is an increase of about $2,200 compared to the previous price.
The Toyota Land Cruiser 250 is available in Nepal, launched in late 2024 with a starting price of around Rs 33.2 million. The official and sole authorized distributor of Toyota vehicles in Nepal is United Traders Syndicate.
