KATHMANDU: The electric vehicle market in Nepal is getting more competitive with new models entering the market. Among the upcoming launches, the Wuling Xingchi EV is set to arrive in Nepal.
Produced by Chinese automaker SAIC-GM-Wuling, the electric SUV will be introduced by Paramount Motors, the official distributor of Wuling vehicles in Nepal. The company plans to showcase the premium SUV at the NAIMA Mobility Expo 2026 in August.
Along with the Xingchi EV, the company will also launch the Wuling Mini EV, Wuling Deryan MPV, and Wuling Bingo EV.
Nepal’s EV market already has several options, but buyers looking for a spacious family vehicle or long-distance travel SUV have limited choices. The Wuling Xingchi EV aims to fill this gap with a flexible seating layout, long range, and practical features.
Here are five reasons why the Wuling Xingchi EV could become a strong competitor in Nepal.
Flexible 5-seater and 7-seater layout
The Xingchi EV offers a flexible third-row seating option. The two folding seats in the third row can be adjusted according to requirements.
For daily use, the third-row seats can be folded flat, turning it into a 5-seater SUV with 540 liters of boot space. For family trips, the seats can be opened to make it a 7-seater SUV.
With a 2,810 mm wheelbase, the SUV is designed to provide better comfort for rear passengers. Folding the second and third rows creates up to 2,916 liters of cargo space.
Long range and fast charging
The Xingchi EV comes with a 69.2 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery. It delivers a CLTC-rated range of 530 km on a single charge.
The SUV also supports fast charging technology. The battery can charge from 30 percent to 80 percent in around 20 minutes under suitable conditions.
Strong build for Nepal’s roads
The Xingchi EV is designed with a focus on durability. Its body structure uses 74.9 percent high-strength steel, while key pillars use 1,500 MPa aerospace-grade steel.
The LFP battery has passed safety tests, including fire and puncture resistance. It also gets a multi-link rear suspension setup, which can improve ride comfort on rough roads.
Powerful motor and torque
The SUV is equipped with a 150 kW electric motor producing 310 Nm of torque.
The instant torque delivery helps the vehicle perform better on uphill roads, even with passengers and luggage.
Advanced technology and safety features
The Wuling Xingchi EV comes with several modern safety and technology features. It includes ADAS, automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, and a 360-degree camera.
It also features a transparent chassis system, allowing drivers to see obstacles and road conditions under the vehicle through the display.
