KATHMANDU: Tesla has launched the long-wheelbase, six-seater version of the Model Y in the United States as it looks to strengthen demand following the removal of a key federal EV tax credit.
The new Model Y L is priced from USD 61,990 in the US. Tesla has also started offering the extended-wheelbase SUV in the United Arab Emirates.
The three-row Model Y L offers seating for six passengers and an EPA-estimated driving range of up to 325 miles on a full charge.

Instead of introducing an all-new model, Tesla continues to expand its lineup with new variants of the Model Y and Model 3 to attract more buyers.
The Model Y L was first introduced in China last year, where it helped support sales amid intense competition from Chinese EV makers, including BYD. Tesla later expanded the model to other Asia-Pacific markets.
The US launch is expected to help revive demand as buyers adjust to the end of the federal EV tax incentive. The announcement comes as Tesla reported record second-quarter deliveries, beating Wall Street expectations on the back of a strong recovery in Europe.
