KATHMANDU: Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) has added 311 electric vehicle (EV) charging stations in the last fiscal year.
According to the Ministry of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, the total number of charging stations has reached 1,511.
Until the previous fiscal year, there were around 1,200 stations across the country.
The increase comes under the leadership of Energy Minister Deepak Khadka. The ministry shared this update as part of its one-year progress report.
As electric vehicle usage rises, the installation of charging stations is also accelerating.
NEA is also tightening rules to manage this growth. It is setting guidelines for transformers and 11kV power lines to avoid unplanned charging infrastructures.
