KATHMANDU: Major automobile brands have expressed deep sorrow and solidarity following the devastating flood that hit several parts of Nepal on Wednesday morning.
The flood in the Bhotekoshi River caused major damage in Rasuwa, Dhading, Gorkha, Chitwan and surrounding areas. Automobile companies have pledged their support to affected communities during the difficult situation.
Nepal’s authorized distributors of Hyundai, BYD, Omoda & Jaecoo, Changan, Dongfeng, Kia and other brands issued messages through social media. They expressed condolences to the affected families and praised the courage of rescue workers, volunteers and local communities working on the ground.
The companies also called for unity and patience during the recovery and reconstruction process. The automobile sector itself has suffered significant losses from the disaster.
Hyundai Nepal expressed solidarity with people affected by the flood and wished for their safety and speedy recovery.
The company said it stands with the people of Rasuwa during the difficult situation. It also expressed hope that affected areas including Rasuwa, Dhading, Gorkha and Chitwan will soon move towards recovery and reconstruction.
Hyundai said community unity and collective strength can provide comfort, hope and a sense of a new beginning to those affected by the disaster.
Similarly, BYD’s authorized distributor in Nepal, Cimex Inc. Pvt. Ltd., expressed solidarity with affected families and communities under the theme “Stronger Together.” Cimex is the authorized distributor of BYD in Nepal.
BYD urged people to remain calm and alert and extend help to others during the emergency.
“This is an extremely challenging time. We express our sympathy to all families and communities affected by the disaster. Let us take care of one another, remain highly alert and help people around us wherever possible,” the company said.
Omoda & Jaecoo’s authorized distributor in Nepal, SPG Automobiles Pvt. Ltd., expressed solidarity with affected citizens, families and communities under the message “Standing Together.” SPG is the authorized distributor of Omoda & Jaecoo in Nepal.
The company expressed condolences to those who lost their lives and praised rescue teams, volunteers and local communities working around the clock.
SPG Automobiles also urged citizens to remain alert and safe while wishing everyone courage, unity and hope during the recovery process.
MAW Vriddhi expressed concern over the loss of lives, property, homes and livelihoods caused by the flood. The company also called for the timely sharing of accurate information and urged people to share emergency contact numbers during the disaster.
Kia Nepal expressed deep sorrow over the damage caused by the Bhotekoshi flood in Rasuwa. It extended condolences to the families who lost loved ones and wished affected communities strength and resilience during the difficult period.
Other automobile companies have also expressed solidarity with those affected by the disaster.
The flood has also caused major losses to the automobile sector. More than 700 electric vehicles imported for the festive season were reportedly swept away. More than 200 containers carrying goods were also lost.
Hundreds of private cars, motorcycles and scooters were also swept away.
The flood has damaged more than 50 kilometers of roads and over 35 bridges, according to preliminary estimates.
