KATHMANDU: BMW Motorrad has filed a design patent for its Vision CE electric scooter concept in India. The filing suggests the company is considering the market, but it does not confirm plans to launch the scooter.

The Vision CE was first unveiled at IAA Mobility 2025. The concept presents BMW’s idea of electric urban mobility, with a focus on safety and convenience.

The scooter features a tubular steel safety cage and a four-point seatbelt. BMW says the protective structure is designed to offer an alternative approach to rider safety. The concept draws inspiration from the company’s C1 scooter, introduced around 25 years ago, which also used a protective structure.

Another key feature is its self-balancing system, which keeps the scooter upright when stationary. This means riders would not need to put their feet on the ground when the scooter stops.

BMW has not revealed the Vision CE’s motor output, battery capacity or riding range. The company has only confirmed that the concept uses an emission-free electric drive. Its low-slung design and long wheelbase are similar to those of the BMW CE 04.

BMW Motorrad currently sells the CE 04 electric scooter in India at an ex-showroom price of 1.525 million Indian rupees.

However, the Vision CE remains a concept, and the patent does not confirm that it will enter production or launch in India. BMW Motorrad has not announced a production timeline or confirmed plans to bring the scooter to any market.
