KATHMANDU: Nepal imported more than 3,600 electric cars in Asoj (mid-September to mid-October 2026) as automobile businesses increased shipments ahead of the Dashain and Tihar festivals.

According to customs data, Nepal imported 3,695 electric cars from 22 brands during the month of Asoj. However, only six models crossed the 100-unit mark.

The Dongfeng Nammi Vigo topped the list with 829 units imported by MAW Vriddhi. The model, which entered Nepal last year, recorded the highest imports after the company reduced its price, attracting more buyers.

The BYD Atto 1 ranked third, with 350 units imported by Cimex Inc.

The Tata Punch EV took fourth place, with Sipradi Trading importing 333 units. Demand for the model has increased following the introduction of its facelifted version.

The iCAUR V23 ranked sixth, with 125 units imported by SPG Automobiles. The model has attracted attention in the Nepali market for its distinctive design.
