KATHMANDU: BYD has opened blind orders for the second-generation Seal 07 in China on October 26. The new model features updated styling, a longer wheelbase, advanced driver-assistance technology and both plug-in hybrid and fully electric powertrain options.
The second-generation Seal 07 follows BYD’s Ocean Aesthetics 2.0 design language and shares styling elements with the Seal 08.

The new Seal 07 features split headlights with a wave-shaped design and a closed front grille. A LiDAR sensor mounted on the roof suggests that the sedan could feature BYD’s God’s Eye B advanced driver-assistance system.
The model will be available in six exterior colors. The second-generation Seal 07 measures 5,080 mm in length, 1,960 mm in width and 1,495 mm in height. Its wheelbase measures 2,960 mm.
Compared with the current model, the new version is 85 mm longer and 50 mm wider. Its wheelbase has also increased by 60 mm, which is expected to improve cabin space.

Inside, the Seal 07 gets a revised dashboard with a large floating central touchscreen, a digital instrument cluster and a new three-spoke steering wheel. The center console and air vents have also been redesigned.
Other features include wireless phone charging, two front cup holders and a 20-speaker audio system. The front seats feature massage, heating and ventilation functions, along with a zero-gravity seating design. The rear seats use a sofa-style layout.

The car offers a 618-litre rear boot and a 160-litre front trunk, providing additional storage space. The second-generation Seal 07 will be available in plug-in hybrid (PHEV) and battery-electric (BEV) versions.
The plug-in hybrid variant combines a 1.5-litre turbocharged engine producing 115 kW with an electric motor rated at 160 kW, equivalent to around 215 hp. It features a 38 kWh battery pack and offers a claimed electric-only range of 245 km under the WLTC test cycle.
The fully electric version features an electric motor with a peak output of 300 kW, equivalent to around 402 hp. It offers a claimed range of up to 718 km under the WLTP test cycle.
BYD has yet to disclose the pricing details or confirm whether the second-generation Seal 07 will be available in right-hand-drive markets.
