KATHMANDU: Mercedes-AMG has named Hollywood actor Brad Pitt as the global ambassador for its upcoming electric AMG GT 4-Door Coupe.
The model is the brand’s first high-performance EV built on the new AMG.EA platform and is set to debut in 2026. The announcement was made in Las Vegas, where AMG showcased a near-production prototype during the Grand Prix weekend.
A promotional video showed Formula 1 driver George Russell arriving in the camouflaged car, demonstrating controlled drifts and burnouts in an underground parking area, and handing the keys to Pitt at a hotel entrance.
AMG says the GT 4-Door EV is the first model developed on its dedicated electric performance platform. The car uses the AMG-EA architecture with aluminum, steel, and lightweight fiber composites.
It features new axial-flux motors and a direct-cooled high-output battery aimed at delivering consistent performance. The production model is expected to offer more than 1,000 horsepower, putting it in direct competition with the Porsche Taycan and Audi RS e-tron GT.
The prototype shown in Las Vegas is the road-going version of the AMG GT XX concept revealed earlier this year. AMG says Pitt’s global influence and interest in performance make him the right face for the company’s shift toward high-performance electric mobility.
Pitt said he is pleased to support AMG as it moves into electric performance. Russell noted that the prototype already shows strong capability during early testing.
Mercedes-AMG is the high-performance division of Mercedes-Benz. It uses its own engineers and works with partners to build and upgrade powerful Mercedes-Benz cars.
