KATHMANDU: BYD has officially revealed the BYD Great Tang in China, offering up to 950 km of claimed electric range under the CLTC cycle. The full-size electric SUV made its public debut on March 5 and is expected to go on sale in late April at the Beijing Auto Show 2026.

The Great Tang is the production version of the Dynasty-D Concept showcased at the 2025 Shanghai Auto Show. It follows BYD’s Dragon Face design language with “Dragon Whiskers” LED DRLs, a large trapezoidal air intake, semi-hidden door handles, roof-mounted LiDAR, and large chrome-finished wheels.

The dashboard features three integrated displays: a digital instrument cluster, a central infotainment screen, and a passenger-side entertainment screen that curves seamlessly into the dash for a concave look. Screen sizes have not been disclosed.

Rear passengers get a ceiling-mounted entertainment display, along with two small tables and a built-in refrigerator.

The SUV measures 5,302 mm in length, 1,999 mm in width, and 1,800 mm in height, with a 3,130 mm wheelbase.

Powering the BYD Great Tang is BYD’s second-generation Blade Battery, which offers 5 percent higher energy density and supports megawatt charging. The rear-wheel-drive variant produces 300 kW (402 hp) and delivers a claimed range of up to 950 km under the CLTC cycle.

Meanwhile, the all-wheel-drive version generates 585 kW (784 hp), accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 3.9 seconds, and offers a claimed range of up to 850 km.

The Great Tang features DiSus-A suspension with dual-chamber air springs and rear-wheel steering. BYD claims a turning radius of 5.2 meters.

Inside, the SUV offers a 2+2+3 seven-seat layout with four zero-gravity seats. It gets three dashboard screens, a ceiling-mounted display, fold-out second-row tables, a built-in refrigerator, and a 27-speaker audio system. The panoramic roof measures 6.34 square meters, while the boot space stands at 252 liters.

The SUV also comes equipped with BYD’s DiPilot 300 (“God’s Eye B”) advanced driver assistance system with Navigate On Autopilot support for city and highway driving.

More details including pricing are expected closer to its market launch, according to Chinese media reports.
