Car sales across India hit a record high during Dhanteras 2025

KATHMANDU: India’s auto market witnessed record-breaking sales during Dhanteras 2025, fueled by strong festive demand and the impact of GST 2.0 reforms, according to Indian media reports.

Maruti Suzuki led the market with around 51,000 deliveries over the two-day period, up nearly 23% from last year’s 41,500 units. The company also recorded 450,000 units bookings, including 100,000 units for small cars, as production continued through the weekend to meet demand.

Tata Motors delivered over 25,000 vehicles, marking a 30% year-on-year increase, while Hyundai Motor India reported 14,000 deliveries, about 20% higher than last year’s festive sales.

Likewise, Toyota, Mahindra & Mahindra, and Kia India contributed over 35,000 deliveries to the total festive.

Overall, Dhanteras 2025 on October 18, became one of the best sales seasons in recent years in India, helped by lower prices, GST 2.0 reforms, and longer festive purchase days.

The trend shows growing consumer confidence in the Indian auto market.
