KATHMANDU: China has started building a temporary bridge over the Lhende River at Rasuwagadhi, near the Nepal-China border.

The Chinese Embassy in Nepal shared the update on Facebook and also released a video showing the construction work.

The original Miteri Bridge was swept away by a flood on July 8th, cutting off direct connection between the two countries.

Following the incident, the Nepali government had requested China to build a temporary bridge. Chinese Ambassador Chen Song had assured support during a meeting with Physical Infrastructure and Transport Minister Devendra Dahal.
