KATHMANDU: The government has invited tenders for the construction of the ‘Signature Bridge’ over the Tinau River on the Butwal–Gorusinghe–Chandrauta section of the East-West Highway.
The Roads Department announced on Friday that the bridge will be built under a ‘Design and Build’ model, where the winning contractor will handle everything from design to construction.
The proposed bridge will be a four-lane structure, about 240 meters long, constructed next to the existing bridge. A detailed architectural and structural design has already been prepared. The project is estimated to cost around Rs 2 billion.
The government had announced in this year’s budget the construction of signature bridges on the Narayani and Tinau rivers. Work on the Narayani Bridge is already underway.
