KATHMANDU: The upcoming Deepal Q05 is gaining strong traction in China, where the compact electric SUV has emerged as one of the segment’s top-selling models. The SUV is expected to enter the Nepali market in the first week of September 2026.
The Q05 is sold under Changan’s NEVO brand in China. In Nepal, it is expected to be marketed under the Deepal brand. Changan’s NEVO Q05 is a pure-electric compact SUV developed for the mass-market EV segment.
According to Changan, the Q05 delivered 18,871 units in China in July 2026. The model has remained among the country’s best-selling compact SUVs for four consecutive months.
The Q05 crossed the 100,000-unit sales mark less than a year after its launch in China. Its sales have grown rapidly since the beginning of 2026.
The SUV recorded sales of 4,452 units in January and 3,852 units in February. Sales then jumped to 12,602 units in March. It reached 15,814 units in April, 15,954 units in May and 18,908 units in June. July sales stood at 18,871 units.
The Q05 is positioned in China’s highly competitive affordable EV SUV segment. Its starting price is around 12,000 USD.
The model comes with an LFP battery supplied by CATL. Depending on the market and variant, the Q05 is offered with battery capacities of around 40.3 kWh and 51.9 kWh. It can deliver up to 506 km of CLTC range in its long-range version.
The Q05 measures 4,435 mm in length, 1,855 mm in width and 1,600 mm in height. It has a 2,735 mm wheelbase, which helps provide a spacious cabin for a compact SUV.
One of its key highlights is fast charging. The Q05 supports 3C ultra-fast charging, with the battery capable of charging from 30% to 80% in around 15 minutes under compatible charging conditions.
Why could it work well in Nepal?
The Q05 could appeal to Nepali buyers looking for a feature-rich electric SUV with a modern design and spacious cabin. Its long wheelbase and technology-focused interior are expected to be among its major selling points.
The Q05 features a large central touchscreen, connected-car functions and advanced driver assistance systems. Higher-spec versions can also feature LiDAR-based driver assistance technology.
Deepal has already established a presence in Nepal with models such as the S07 and S05. The S05, in particular, has gained strong interest in the Nepali market. The Q05 could build on that momentum if it is launched at a competitive price.
The Q05 is expected to be one of the notable new EVs arriving in Nepal this year. Its final specifications, features and pricing will determine how strongly it can compete in Nepal’s growing compact electric SUV market.
