KATHMANDU: Launched in late March, Creta Electric is already making a strong road presence on Nepali roads.
As per import data till May 15, the electric sibling of Hyundai’s popular Creta SUV has made a promising start despite facing stiff competition from Chinese EV brands.
Laxmi Intercontinental Pvt Ltd, the authorized distributor of Hyundai in Nepal, is optimistic that the EV will build on the legacy of the Creta, available in Nepal since 2016, bringing familiarity, reliability and service assurance to the evolving electric market.
With Hyundai’s strong global reputation and a robust after-sales network in Nepal, the Creta Electric is positioned for buyers who prefer a brand they can rely on.
Here are five standout features Hyundai believes give the Creta Electric an edge over its rivals:
1. Fully Charged in Just 4 Hours Using AC charger
The Creta Electric, which uses a 42 kWh NMC battery, can be fully charged in approximately four hours using an AC charger. This makes it a practical choice for daily use.
2. Affordable Spare Parts
Manufactured in India, the Creta Electric benefits from faster and more cost-effective access to spare parts compared to Chinese imports. Hyundai highlights this as a long-term advantage in terms of both maintenance costs and serviceability.
3. Paddle Shifter
The Creta EV features a paddle shifter that enables one-pedal driving, a feature currently not available in other models in this segment. This offers a smoother driving experience, particularly in city traffic.
4. Full-Size Spare Tire
Unlike most EVs in its class that forgo a spare tire, the Creta EV includes a full-size spare tire. This offers peace of mind for long-distance trips or drives through remote regions.
5. High Ground Clearance
Designed with Nepal’s challenging road conditions in mind, the Creta EV offers 200 mm of ground clearance—higher than its petrol counterpart and significantly more than the typical 170–180 mm found in most EVs in this category. This gives it an edge in handling rough and uneven terrain.
