KATHMANDU: The eTerron 9, a new all-electric pickup truck from Maxus, was officially launched in the Nepali market earlier this week.

Himalayan Motors, the authorized distributor of Maxus vehicles in Nepal, chose to launch the pickup truck in the rugged terrains of Manang to show its off-road prowess.

The eTerron 9 is available in two variants—Luxury and Premium—with a starting price of Rs 9.999 million.

It comes equipped with a segment-leading 102 kWh battery, offering a driving range of up to 560 km (NEDC) and 430 km (WLTP). Charging options include 11 kW AC charging (full charge in approximately 12 hours) and 115 kW DC fast charging. The vehicle also supports vehicle-to-load (V2L) functionality, both inside and outside the cabin.

Built for rugged conditions, the pickup measures 5,500 mm in length and offers 230 mm of ground clearance. It boasts an approach angle of 29 degrees, departure angle of 25 degrees, and a ramp breakover angle of 20 degrees, making it a true off-roader. It can wade through water up to 550 mm deep.

Powered by an all-wheel-drive system, the eTerron 9 combines a 125 kW front motor and a 200 kW rear motor, delivering a total output of 315 kW. It has a payload capacity of 620 kg and a towing capacity of 3,500 kg.

The eTerron 9 has earned a 5-star Euro NCAP safety rating and comes with a 5-year or 160,000 km vehicle warranty and an 8-year or 200,000 km battery warranty.

Premium features include ventilated and massage-equipped seats, leatherette upholstery, a heated steering wheel, panoramic sunroof and automatic climate and lighting controls.

Safety features in the eTerron 9 include automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, seven airbags, lane-keeping assist, blind-spot monitoring, electronic stability control (ESP), rear cross-traffic alert, and a 360-degree camera system with front and rear parking sensors.
