KATHMANDU: Maxus is set to expand its electric pickup lineup in Nepal with the launch of a more affordable eTerron 9 Comfort variant. The model is expected to arrive about a year after the premium eTerron 9 was introduced in the country.
The new variant will be brought by Himalaya Motrox, the authorized distributor of Maxus vehicles in Nepal. The company has started teasing the upcoming model on its social media channels with a “Launching Soon” campaign. While an official launch date has not been announced, the pickup is expected to go on sale in August.
According to company sources, the eTerron 9 Comfort will be priced below the current model. The lower price is expected to come with the removal of some premium features. The existing eTerron 9 is priced at Rs 12.8 million.

The pickup is powered by a 102.2 kWh battery pack, the largest in its segment. It delivers a claimed 560 km driving range (NEDC).
The dual-motor all-wheel-drive system combines a 125 kW front motor and a 200 kW rear motor, producing a total output of 325 kW and 700 Nm of torque.
The battery supports 11 kW AC charging, taking around 12 hours for a full charge, and 115 kW DC fast charging. The pickup also offers Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) functionality for both the cabin and the cargo area.
The eTerron 9 measures 5,500 mm in length, 1,997 mm in width and 1,874 mm in height, with a 3,300 mm wheelbase and 230 mm ground clearance.

The current model comes equipped with features such as automatic climate control, a heated steering wheel, power-adjustable front seats, leatherette upholstery, heated and ventilated front and rear seats, a massage function for the driver’s seat, a panoramic sunroof, automatic headlights and rain-sensing wipers.
Some of these features are likely to be omitted in the Comfort variant.
Safety equipment includes a 360-degree camera, front and rear parking sensors, autonomous emergency braking, forward collision warning, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, electronic stability control, emergency brake assist, multiple terrain modes, auto hold and seven airbags.
The Maxus eTerron 9 has also received a 5-star Euro NCAP safety rating.
