KATHMANDU: Dongfeng’s Forthing brand officially entered the Nepali market on Wednesday with the launch of the Friday SUV at the NAIMA Nepal Electricity Expo in Kathmandu.
Laxmi E-Mobility, the official distributor of Forthing, launched the electric SUV at a starting price of Rs 4.896 million. The top-most variant will cost Rs 5.496 million.
Established in 2001, the Forthing brand is known for creating vehicles that appeal to younger generations. With a core philosophy of providing smart, stylish and sustainable mobility solutions, Forthing vehicles are sold in over 40 countries across Asia, the Middle East, South America and Africa.
The Friday is 4,600mm long, 1,860mm wide and 1,680mm tall. It has a wheelbase of 2,715mm, a ground clearance of 185mm and a boot space of 480 liters. According to the company, the Friday SUV is equipped with a 64.4 kWh battery and a 99 kW motor that provides a maximum torque of 174 Nm. The battery supports AC charging up to 11 kW and DC charging up to 80 kW.
The entry-level variant of Forthing Friday will cost Rs 4.896 million, while the top-end variant has been priced at Rs 5.496 million.
Although not built on a pure electric platform, the SUV offers a pleasant driving and passenger experience and boasts features like memory, ventilated and massage seats. For nighttime driving, the intelligent high and low beam function, along with the projector headlamps and LED DRLs, makes the journey much easier, according to the company.
The car features 19-inch alloy wheels, a sporty spoiler, defogger, connected LED taillights, a high-mount brake light, rear parking sensors, and a 360-degree camera setup. Inside, it has a 50W wireless charger for fast mobile charging, a 60W Type-C port, a sunglass holder, reading lights, AC control buttons, a crystal gear knob and a cooled glove box. Furthermore, it features an 8.8-inch information display, a 14.6-inch infotainment system cabin and a 10-way adjustable driver’s seat.
For safety, the Friday SUV is equipped with six airbags, a braking priority system, and an automatic boost braking function for sudden stops. It also includes hill hold, hill descent control, auto hold, and a tire pressure monitoring system. It also has front parking radar and ADAS 2.0 for a safe driving experience.
