KATHMANDU: Chinese automaker Dongfeng’s new energy vehicle (NEV) brand Forthing has launched its latest electric compact SUV, the Xinghai X5.
The Xinghai X5, which starts at $21,000, features a bold design with vertical headlamps, slim LED DRLs and a closed-off front grille. Its profile is highlighted by a blacked-out door frame and 17-inch alloy wheels.
The SUV gets a black-and-orange interior theme with leatherette seat covers and a rear seat that can fold flat. Other convenience features include automatic air conditioning, a tire pressure monitoring system, a 13-inch central touchscreen, dual-zone voice control, CarLink, Apple CarPlay, Huawei HiCar and CarLife Plus connectivity.
The vehicle is powered by a 120 kW front-wheel-drive motor paired with a 64.4 kWh LFP battery pack. According to the company, the SUV delivers a CLTC-certified range of up to 530 km when fully charged.
Forthing’s Friday SUV was launched in Nepal in the first week of August. Laxmi E-Mobility, the authorized distributor of Forthing in Nepal, launched the mid-range SUV during the NAIMA Nepal Mobility Expo.
