KATHMANDU: The price of the Geely EX5 electric SUV has increased in the Nepali market. The official distributor, LRR Motors, has revised the pricing following changes in government tax policy.
According to the updated price list, the EX5 Max variant has become Rs 300,000 more expensive, while the Pro variant has increased by Rs 200,000. The Max variant now costs Rs 7.3 million, up from Rs 7.0 million. Similarly, the Pro variant is priced at Rs 6.2 million, compared to its previous Rs 5.8 million.
The company says the price adjustment is due to the new EV tax structure introduced through the budget. Earlier, taxes were based on motor peak power. Now, they are calculated based on CIF value. In addition, excise duty has been replaced by a new “Green Infrastructure Fee,” ranging from 2.5% to 130%.
On top of this, EV imports are subject to 20% customs duty, 5% road maintenance charge, and 13% VAT. These changes have significantly increased the overall cost.
Despite the price hike, the company claims it remains committed to offering advanced technology, strong safety features, and a premium ownership experience.
LRR Motors Sales Head Adhir Shrestha stated that the price revision reflects the inevitable rise in import costs due to the new financial policy. He added that the company will continue to support sustainable mobility in Nepal through reliable products and after-sales service.
The Geely EX5 is powered by a 160 kW motor, producing 215 hp. It can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.9 seconds.

Both variants use a 60.2 kWh LFP short blade battery. This battery offers better safety, energy density, and durability compared to standard units. The SUV delivers a claimed range of 530 km on a full charge (CLTC).
In terms of design, the EX5 features a modern aerodynamic profile with LED lighting and a clean front design.
Inside, it gets a 15.4-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster, wireless charging, voice command, a panoramic sunroof, and multi-layer seat design.
For safety, both variants come with six airbags, ABS, EBD, ESC, AEB, blind spot monitoring, and hill assist. The SUV also supports smart connectivity with app-based vehicle control.
