KATHMANDU: Chinese automaker Geely has showcased the world’s first pickup truck equipped with the Thor EM Hybrid System at the Auto Shanghai 2025 exhibition in China.

The company has claimed that the pickup, which features a three-speed dedicated hybrid transmission, excels in both performance and efficiency. According to Geely, the pickup boasts a combined range of 1,000 kilometers.

The new Radar pickup incorporates two major technological platforms: the Omni Stack Energy Platform and the Sattle LOT Platform. These systems enhance the vehicle’s utility beyond transportation, making it capable of off-roading and outdoor work. The pickup is powered by a 1.5-liter engine with a 3DHT (Dedicated Hybrid Transmission) at the front, designed to deliver superior performance in high-altitude climbing and challenging terrains.

The Radar brand is available as Riddara in some markets, including Nepal.

Geely has claimed that the hybrid pickup, equipped with a dual-motor setup, remains stable at high speeds, high altitudes and low temperatures. The new hybrid system supports both gasoline and electric power, achieving a thermal efficiency rate of 44.26%. Its intelligent energy management system boosts fuel efficiency by 21% compared to traditional gasoline pickups.

CG Motors is the official distributor of Geely’s Riddara brand in Nepal. Riddara electric pickup is doing well in the Nepali market. If the government provides tax incentives for hybrid pickups in the upcoming budget, this model could soon be available in Nepal.
