KATHMANDU: Honda has unveiled a new electric SUV called the 0-Series Alpha at the Japan Mobility Show 2025, expanding its family of next-generation electric vehicles.

The 0 Alpha joins Honda’s 0 Series, a new generation of EVs designed to be efficient, smart, and user-friendly, following the “Thin, Light, and Wise” philosophy.

The 0-Series already includes two prototypes, the stylish Saloon and a larger SUV. It will serve as the gateway model for the new lineup, featuring a simple yet futuristic design, a smart and roomy interior, and Honda’s latest EV technology.

Honda hasn’t shared the price yet, but it’s expected to cost under $50,000.

At first glance, the Alpha looks a lot like the earlier 0-Series SUV, but there are some small changes. The front bumper has two body-colored panels instead of one large piece, and the headlights now feature a light bar that stretches across the car.

The Alpha’s design is clean and futuristic, with LED panels on the front and back that can also display messages or signals. Its slim headlights, upright stance, and smooth body give it a modern look.

Honda hasn’t shown the interior yet, but it’s expected to feature a flat floor, large digital dashboard, and spacious, simple cabin for a comfortable driving experience.

The Alpha also has a shorter hood, a taller cabin, and what seems to be a shorter wheelbase, which could make it easier to handle in cities. The charging port has been moved to a black panel on the front, and the rear window is larger for better visibility.

Honda says global sales will begin in 2027, starting from Japan and India.

In India, the Alpha could become Honda’s first global EV made locally, with exports planned for Japan and other countries. Once launched, it will compete with models like the Maruti eVitara, Mahindra BE, MG ZS EV, Hyundai Creta EV, and Tata Curvv EV.
