KATHMANDU: Traffic awareness classes have resumed after being suspended since the second week of September. The classes were halted when traffic police offices were set on fire during the Gen Z agitation on September 9.

According to Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office Spokesperson SP Naresh Raj Subedi, physical awareness classes have now restarted at Ramshah Path. Five classes are being held daily from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., except on public holidays.

The sessions run from 9–10 a.m., 10:30–11:30 a.m., 12–1 p.m., 1:30–2:30 p.m., and 3–4 p.m. Drivers can choose any convenient time slot. On Fridays, classes will run only until 2:30 p.m.

For those unable to attend on weekdays, two sessions are arranged every Saturday from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., except on public holidays.

Currently, the classes are conducted only at Ramshah Path. The traffic police plan to start sessions in Bhaktapur and Lalitpur soon.

SP Subedi also said that online classes are not available yet because the Department of Transport Management’s system is down. Once it becomes operational and licenses appear on the Citizen App, online classes will resume.

The classes are mandatory for drivers caught driving under the influence, over-speeding, or violating traffic rules.
