KATHMANDU: Hyundai’s CRATER electric SUV concept has made its virtual debut in the open-world racing game The Crew Motorfest, giving players a chance to experience the off-road EV before any decision on a production version.
Hyundai unveiled the CRATER Concept at the 2025 Los Angeles Auto Show. Developed by Hyundai America Technical Center in Irvine, California, the concept previews the future direction of the brand’s XRT off-road models.

The CRATER features a high-riding, boxy design with 33-inch off-road tires and high ground clearance. It was designed to showcase a more capable and rugged approach to Hyundai’s future XRT vehicles.
In The Crew Motorfest, players can take the CRATER off-road, customize the vehicle and use a new winch feature to pull or recover objects. The game was developed by Ubisoft Ivory Tower, with the CRATER becoming the first Korean-brand vehicle featured in the game.

Hyundai introduced the XRT, or Xtreme Rugged Terrain, lineup in the US as a dedicated off-road trim. The brand currently offers XRT models including the Ioniq 5 XRT and Santa Cruz XRT, while the Tucson XRT Pro is its latest addition.
Hyundai plans to expand the XRT lineup to more models and markets. However, the CRATER remains a concept, and the company has not confirmed plans to put it into production. The midsize electric pickup is expected to arrive around 2030.
