Hyundai Creta marks 10 years of success with over 1.2 million units sold

KATHMANDU: Hyundai is celebrating 10 years of the Creta in India. First launched in July 2015, the SUV has sold over 1.2 million units so far, according to Hyundai India.

The Creta has become a trusted name in the midsize SUV segment. It continues to lead the Indian market with over 31% share.

Since its launch, it has been India’s best-selling midsize SUV every year. The Creta is not just popular in India. It is now exported to over 13 countries. Over 287,000 units have been sent abroad so far.

Hyundai India is set to host the ‘Creta Legacy Drive’ to celebrate the SUV’s 10-year journey. A convoy of 100 Creta SUVs will flag off from Hyundai’s headquarters in Gurgaon on July 26, 2025.

Hyundai showcased the Creta Electric at Auto Expo 2025 as its first mass-market EV for India. Based on the existing ICE model, its initial response has been modest.

Looking ahead, Hyundai is preparing to launch the third-generation Creta in 2027 in India. The new version will feature a strong hybrid powertrain, along with petrol and diesel options.

In Nepal, the India-made Creta continues to enjoy strong demand. It has become a trusted choice for both city drives and highway journeys. The SUV has reshaped how Nepali customers view the segment.

The local assembly of petrol variants has now started under Laxmi Group, further strengthening Hyundai’s presence in the market. Over the years, the Creta has played a vital role in building the brand’s image and trust across the country.
