KATHMANDU: Chinese SUV brand JETOUR, a premium marque under Chery Holding Group, is set to enter the Nepali market through Laxmi Group.
The company is expected to officially launch the brand at the NAIMA Mobility Expo, which will be held at Bhrikutimandap from August 11 to 16.
JETOUR’s entry comes after an earlier attempt by CG Group to introduce the brand around one-and-a-half years ago. Although an agreement had been signed at the time, the launch did not materialize due to various reasons.
Laxmi Group has not disclosed which models it plans to introduce in Nepal. Globally, JETOUR offers several SUVs, including the X50, X70, X90, and T2. Industry sources expect the company to prioritize the JETOUR T2, an off-road-focused SUV that is considered well suited to Nepal’s terrain.

A strong match for Nepal’s roads?
JETOUR’s SUV lineup appears well aligned with Nepal’s diverse road conditions. Most of its models feature high ground clearance, rugged styling and modern hybrid powertrains.
These characteristics could appeal to buyers who frequently travel on hilly or rural roads. The brand may also attract customers looking for spacious cabins, off-road capability and premium features.
However, the market presents significant challenges.
Nepal’s EV segment is expanding rapidly, making competition increasingly intense. At the same time, petrol, hybrid and plug-in hybrid SUVs are subject to relatively higher taxes, which could affect JETOUR’s pricing and competitiveness.

The brand’s long-term success will also depend on the strength of its local distributor. Factors such as spare parts availability, after-sales service and overall customer experience will play a crucial role in building consumer confidence.
JETOUR was established in 2018 under Chery Holding Group. The brand’s name combines the words “Jet” and “Tour”, reflecting its focus on comfortable, convenient and enjoyable travel.
The company primarily produces SUVs and crossover models. In recent years, it has expanded its portfolio with larger off-road SUVs and plug-in hybrid vehicles.
Despite being a relatively young brand, JETOUR has already expanded into more than 70 countries. It has established a strong presence across the Middle East, Africa, South America and several Asian markets.
