KATHMANDU: Mahanagar Yatayat Pvt. Ltd. has added 16 new electric buses to its fleet. The buses were handed over by Shashila Motors Pvt. Ltd. in Kathmandu on Wednesday.

The company will deploy these buses on the Ring Road route. Earlier, it had introduced 12 large electric buses in operation last July.

The new buses come with modern features. They include comfortable seating, hanging straps, and basic passenger amenities.

Powering the buses is a 144 kWh CATL battery pack. It offers a driving range of up to 200 km on a full charge. Each unit is priced at around Rs. 13.2 million.

Mahanagar Yatayat currently operates more than 140 vehicles across Kathmandu Valley and other cities. Its electric fleet now stands at 52 units, including 28 buses and 24 microbuses.
