KATHMANDU: The NADA Automobiles Association of Nepal has urged automobile dealers to complete customs inspection and clearance of Euro 4 standard vehicles by December 1. The request was made through a press statement issued on Sunday.
The government enforced the Nepal Vehicle Pollution Standard 2082 from July 6, which restricts the import of vehicles below Euro 5 for two-wheelers and Euro 6 for four-wheelers.
However, as a one-time provision, the government has allowed the import of Euro 4 vehicles that had received proforma invoices before the new standard came into effect. NADA has asked dealers to clear these vehicles within the given deadline.
“It is already known that the government has permitted the import of vehicles or parts meeting previous standards until December 1, 2082 BS, provided the proforma invoice was issued earlier,” NADA said. “We request that the remaining vehicles be cleared by customs within this period.”
NADA has also written to the Ministry of Forest and Environment and the Ministry of Finance, requesting effective implementation of this provision.
